HOW A HOME BATTERY WORKS

Keep the solar you make at midday for the evening.

Without a battery, spare solar goes to the grid for a few cents. With one, it waits in your garage until the sun goes down.

MORNING

Breakfast on last night's charge

What's left in the battery covers the morning until the sun gets strong.

Battery powers the home
MIDDAY

Solar runs the house and fills the battery

Your panels cover daytime use. The spare goes into the battery, not the grid.

Solar charges the battery
EVENING

The battery takes over

When the sun drops, the house runs on stored solar instead of buying from the grid.

OVERNIGHT

Ready to fill again

If the battery runs low, the grid fills the gap. Tomorrow it starts again.

QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK

Straight answers.

How much is the federal battery rebate?

It's paid per usable kWh: the full rate on the first 14 kWh, 60% from 14 to 28 kWh and 15% from 28 to 50 kWh. On a 21 kWh battery that's about $4,580 if it's installed by 31 December 2026 and about $3,840 from 1 January 2027 (estimates as at 18 October 2026, at a $37 certificate price). We take it off your quote.

Do I need solar panels?

Yes. The rebate needs the battery connected to solar, new or existing. No solar yet? We quote both together and can install them on the same day.

Am I eligible for the Home Energy Saver loan?

You own the NSW property (to live in or rent out), everyone on the title earns $210,000 or less combined (taxable), every applicant is an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and Brighte runs a credit check when you apply. It's a loan you repay, not a grant.

Is eHomes the lender?

No. Brighte is the lender and makes every lending decision. We design and install the system.

What's the VPP incentive?

Under the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme, signing an eligible battery up to an approved virtual power plant for at least 12 months can earn an extra incentive. The amount and how it's paid depend on the provider, and joining is your choice.
